Book, Music, and Lyrics by Adam Qutaishat and Heidi Joosten

Directed by Gina Gómez

Due to a health issue with one of our team members, this workshop has been rescheduled to 2023. We look forward to sharing it then!

Part of the Wisconsin New Musicals Cycle

A microbiology graduate student, at wit’s end due to the constant pressures and abuses she faces working in academia, turns to music as her refuge. This unexpectedly leads to an incredible scientific discovery about microaggressions. After forging a bond with a music student, the two face infuriating biases that stall any attempts they make at progress. Can they overcome a system designed to hold them back and create something that will change the world?

This production will feature a live event with a semi-staged reading as well as stations where audience members can view renderings of the set and costumes. It will be followed by a talkback with the artists.

After the live production, the artists will head into the recording studio to create a podcast audio drama of the piece. We will accompany the podcast with interviews, reflections, and ideas from guest panelists, all with the goal of taking Micro to its full production in 2023!

More information coming soon!
